IGN preview - bit more educational
Ive read the gamespot preview (being discussed elsewhere), but found that the one on IGN (here) seemed that Charles Onyett (IGN) was more familiar with the game (or paid better attention at the Demo briefing) and more importantly, had some VERY interesting revelations.
Capturable NPCs?
New weapon and armor Buffs? (Inscriptions)
He also put more detail in into the avatar skills of the dervish as well as some items we already had heard about, and did you know the wurms can dance? haha

Heh, reading about the wurms and all I hear is Jung and Freud snickering in the back of my mind.
P.S. my wurm is longer than yours.

Interesting what it says about inscriptions on weapons;
Quote:
Item inscription allows for highly customizable damage effects on weapons and armor
|
Sounds to me like more bonus damage (damage mod + customisation + inscriptions) rather than 'zomg salvage 15>50 zomg'

Personally I dont feel like we need another damage modifier on weapons, it would have been a much better system if inherant mods were salvageable.
But any addition to gameplay is a welcome addition I say. And I guess the people who were panicking over this can change their pants now.

I personally like the sound of it. I always love to customize my gear to suit me best but it never felt like I could to the extent I wanted to with only a couple mods to choose from.

Woulda been nice if he said what the reward for winning in 1vs1 PVP was and how Heros get unlocked for PVP instead of just totally omitting any comments about that.

Yeah, this is most crucial part of the entire article
Quote:
What kind of benefits powerful items bestow on players can now be fiddled around with to a greater degree. Item inscription allows for highly customizable damage effects on weapons and armor. From random mobs will drop something called armor insignias which can be applied to items for even more bonuses. Arenanet also mentioned they were decoupling stats from armor's visual appearance, which they believe should please hardcore fans.

Yeah true, although on the minus side, you won't be able to instantly identify many noob warriors by the fact that they wear the ascalon helm.
